natural yarn.nettle in original, bleach nettle mix with silk. Hemp yarn or other kind are also the same pattern.

i think that the green weave covers those rugs which are made from the yarns which are natural, not synthetic.

Being non-availability of this yarn, this carpet or rug comes out very expensive. But still high end class, top luxirious
hotels are buying this kind of rugs.

You will be surised to know that soyabean yarn is also being used in making the rugs. But mind it these are not for normal
customers, but for high end, for the reason that the cost of these rugs are expensive if you compare with the woolen rugs.

Linen or flax yarn is another category, which are being used in making the rugs.

Though babana silk is not new, but it is still cosidered, rich quality yarns, and more important bio-degredable and natural.

Hotel rugs or villa rugs :

Mostly in case of hospitality projects we are being asked for the foot traffic on rugs, fire retardent/flame retardent treated rugs, moth proofing and such other technical terms which are not required in case of rugs used for home etc.

The foot traffic depends on the kind of raw material which should be used in making the rug. So dont just go with the rug, also see the quality of wool or other yarn, as per the demand, before you decide for the rugs.

Foot traffic in case of residential rugs are not much important for the reason that you have limited one in your house, but when we talk for the projects of hotels, lobby, and such other places, where the number of foot stepping, per day are more than the normal. In some cases where the rugs are laid in hotel rooms, the foot traffic is considered medium/medium low, because the stepping on rufs are not high.

We get our product check with the authorised goventment insitute who specifies that of which standard the rugs are of, whether rugs are for high traffic? Whether rugs are for medium traffic or whether the rugs are for low traffic.

Regarding fire retardent/flame retardent, we have some chemicals which are treated on the rugs to make them flame retardent/fire retardent. There are different kinds of codes allocated for fire retardent rugs.

Moth proofing on rugs are done, when asked for, as every added feature in rugs costs.

Quality determination of custom rugs and custom carpets

Quality of Custom rugs or custom carpets ;-

When someone asks for the quality of handmade rugs, that means different terms in view of differnet types of rugs. In case of handknotted rugs the qualites are termed as 9/45 quality, 10/50, 10/52, 11/55, 12/60, 13/65, 14/70 onwards, some also calls these as 9/9, 10/10/, 11/11, 12/12, 13/13, 14/14 onwards. However in case of indo tibetan handknotted pattern, the qualities are termed as per knots. These are called 45 knots, 60 knots, 80 knots, 100 knots, 150 knots and 200 knots. Both these are handknotted, but are different in sense of pattern of weaving.If the design is moderate and not too much complicated we suggest not to go with the higher knots and increase the cost.

In case of handtufted rugs the quality is mainly determined with the yarn consumed per sq meters or say per sq yard.

In case of handloom rugs or flat woven rugs/dhurries, the quality is determined with the closeness of warping, again you can say the density.

Rugs with Fringes and without fringes. Some demand handmade rugs with fringes some asks for handmade rugs without fringes, some asks for handmade Rugs with embossing some doesnt like the handcarving and asks for the rugs without embossing. Some get confused with 2 term embossing and carving, please note that these are taken one and same thing. Embossing or say carving on rugs, can create such beautiful effect, that the plain rug looks like weaved rug. We are talking all these issues in respect of hand tufted rugs and handknotted rugs.

Custom rug, custom area rug, custom woolen rug, custom woolen area rug are few terms which are more or less the same. It is clearly noted that these custom rug or area rug may be any kind it may be handtufted custom area rug it may be handknotted custom area rug.

Some also call it as Bespoke rug, bespoke area rug.

I think that the difference is very thin, custom area rug term include bespoke rug, but not vice versa.

We have been doing business with companies who are man ily interior designers, interior fit out, FF & E companies, architects, who do not have to bother for their orders.We have noticed that sometimes the orders seems to be very simple, in terms of design, and colours from the picture, but when we implement those into rugs, the actual result comes out.

Some time the rugs comes out far more beatuful than the predicted ones, but sometimes they dont come as per the thought. It not that the rug is defective/below standard or of loose quality, but this means that might be due to col,our matching fixed by the clients are as per their taste.

Take an example of choclate area rug or tones of brown. We have been noticing that the choclate colour or brown tones are moving very well these days, this was also somew years back, but these days they are the leading ones. This is such a netural and safe colour that there is never any problem, no matter how the design it is.

Rugs treatd with Fire retardent is being considered as one of the main important aspect, these days.

Do you know that the actual chemical with which we make the rug treated fire retardent or flame retardent is very expensive. But this is one of the main important requirement for rugs mainly hotels etc.

the thicker the rug with dense, the more effective this treatment is done and successful.

i remember recently we did a big project for hotel where we supplied around 235 pcs of handtufted carpets and all were treated with flame retardent and we got 1st class ranking from the usa lab.

Contract Rugs or Contract carpets

I don’t know why but today I feel like sharing all my experience with you all for the field of contract area rugs or contract area carpets.

This is very tough segment, but I enjoy, for the reason of brain storming exercises.

Don’t treat this as a simple job.Making rugs or carpets for contract industry is not a joke. You have to understand the colour senstiveness for the rugs to be made. By this I mean the matching has to be done as close as possible, I remember we had project in past where the wool has to be made with silk mix, and the shade was blue, believe me the colour came so perfect that it was tough to make out where the silk was used and where the wool, it was the shinning or lusture of silk which made reaslised the difference.

After Matching colour the weaving perfection is taken care in handmade rugs. Which colour has to be filled at which place is important, otherwise whole look changes.

When we talk about rugs for hotels or villas or beach resort or even residential apartments, we mean handtufted woolen rugs. Woolen rugs are considered to be one of the best rugs, made in handtufted, for the reason of price, delivery time and designs.

Where one handknotted rug of say 6’x9’ or 200x300 cms, takes around 90 days just to weave, a handtufted rug is ready within 30 days or so. Pricewise handtufted rugs are also cheap.

Hospitality industry welcomes and greets handtufted rugs made in 100% newzealand wool. These days, however the demand have also raised in blended wool i.e. Indian wool and newzealand wool, which gives tight look. To give different look, viscose yarn is added.

Pile height suitable for these are 12mm, with cotton canvas cloth. The best rug to be laid for hotels, I prefer are hand-tufted rugs.

At one point one ask for faded look where the design at some places are smerged with the base. I mean when you look at it, you will say hey look he has missed weaving that particular area of rug, on the other side, you will find the client who wants everything to look sharp. Hospitality Rugs or say Rugs for hotels has to pass certain parameters, which has to be taken care while manufacturing of rugs, or say before packing. The major one in this segment is fire retardant or Flame retardant. This means that when the fire falls on the rug or carpet on floor, the fire will not be spread.

We have certified chemicals where after use of which this is totally safe from the pile material that the fire will not spread.

When we talk in terms of the other issues, it is density of the rugs or carpet, its pile height.

Other important factor is the foot traffic on the rug. Whether the rugs laid are suitable for low traffic, medium traffic or high traffic? This issue is directly related mainly with the Fibre length of the carpet.

It is also important to note the yarns being used for the rugs for hotels. Are you using wool for your rugs or carpets or viscose (artificial silk), or silk or any such othr natural and man made fibre. Please make note that every yarn has its own different properties and strength to absorb the foot traffic.
